Faculty News – Dr. Suzanne Fogel Attends the CRIM Analytics Symposium as a Panel Member

Apr 02, 2016

The University of Chicago Illinois hosted the CRIM Big Data Symposium on March 31st, 2016, and Dr. Suzanne Fogel of DePaul University was a member of a panel that discussed industry – academic partnerships. The other speakers were Richard Rodts from IBM, Sema Barlas from the University of Chicago, Jim Foster from Archer Daniels Midland, and were moderated by Roger Moore from Gartner.

The panel discussed ways that university analytic programs and firms that have analytic challenges could benefit from partnering. For universities, the benefits of such partnerships include opportunities for students to work on real-world problems, for faculty to stay current with the kinds of challenges firms face, student internships and jobs, datasets for research and teaching, and financial support. Firms benefit through collaboration with faculty experts and identification of a pipeline of analytics talent.
